735 Scholarships in Spain open for Cubans: How to apply?

Spain has launched a call for 735 scholarships aimed at students and Latin American professionals, including Cubans, for academic year 2025-2026.

These opportunities, managed by the Carolina Foundation, cover postgraduate programs, doctorate, mobility of teachers and institutional studies in prestigious Spanish universities.

What types of scholarships are available?

The Carolina Foundation has divided these 735 scholarships, which Cubans can opt in Spain.

  • 227 Postgraduate scholarships: for students with university degree who wish to specialize in Spain.
  • 121 Doctoral scholarships and postdoctoral short stays: aimed at researchers and academic professionals.
  • 110 Doctoral scholarship renovations: for those who already study doctoral studies in Spain.
  • 22 Teachers mobility scholarships: For university teachers who want to expand their experience in Spanish institutions.
  • 255 Scholarships of Institutional Studies: For officials and leaders of social projects.

In addition, this edition incorporates a special modality for human rights promoters in Latin America, aligned with the objectives of Spanish cooperation.

Postgraduate scholarship request at the Carolina Foundation

To request a postgraduate scholarship, mobility or institutional studies that do not require institutional high, the first thing you should do is access our Carolina Foundation website.

If you are already registered in the system

From the Carolina Foundation websiteyou must click on «Scholarship applicants» to access your candidate profile. Then, click «Log in» and enter your email and password address.

In case of not remembering your password, select the option «Did you forget the password?» Keep in mind that, to modify your data, you must first request a program of the new call. Then, you can proceed as in previous calls.

If you are a new user

From the website of the Carolina Foundation, click «Scholarship applicants» and select the «Register» option at the upper right angle. Next, the information of the data protection clause will be displayed. Once accepted, proceed to register and select the «Send» option.

To request a scholarship, choose the master or program of your interest. After consulting all the conditions and requirements, select the «request» option and prioritize the order of your application.

Special cases: doctoral scholarships and research stays

For doctoral scholarships, short stays and some research scholarships, it is not possible to make the application directly. In these cases, the institution with which the Carolina Foundation has signed an agreement is responsible for registering its candidates in the system. It is recommended to review the frequent questions and informative videos if these scholarships are of your interest.

Complete the application

Once the desired master or program is requested, complete all sections of the left margin of the screen, such as:

  • Personal data (if they are not previously filled)
  • Languages
  • Academic training (university and complementary)
  • Work experience
  • Publications
  • Other data
  • Socioeconomic data

After entering the information in each section, do not forget to press the «save» button.

In the user tab you will find:

  • «My requests»: allows you to consult and prioritize postgraduate scholarship requests, as well as add new ones.
  • «My communications»: to review the messages received.
  • «My profile»: where you can modify the registration data.

If you want to request more than one program, you can do it by pressing the icon «Add application» and selecting the desired program. You can request up to five postgraduate programs, without limit in combinations with other modalities.

Completion of the process

Once all the steps are completed, your application will be formalized. Since it is an online platform, the information we visualize is the same as you see in your profile. For this reason, you will not receive additional information about the status of your application.

Important: Once the call is closed, you can no longer modify any curricular data, only your personal data (telephone, email or address).

The deadlines vary according to the type of scholarship:

  • Postgraduate and institutional studies: open registration until March 12, 2025.
  • Doctorate and mobility: term until April 3, 2025.

Requirements to opt for one of the 735 scholarships

To apply, you must meet the following general requirements:

  • Be a Cuban citizen or an Latin American country.
  • Have a university degree at the time of the application.
  • Not having residence in Spain.
  • Have Internet access, since the whole process is digital.
  • Comply with the specific requirements of the program to which you postulate (some scholarships require work experience or mastery of a language).

It is important to check the technical record of each scholarship, since some offer total financing and others only cover part of the expenses.

What does the scholarship cover?

Depending on the program, scholarships can be complete or partial. These are the aid you could receive:

  • Percentage of registration.
  • Financial aid for accommodation and maintenance.

Partial Scholarship:

Scholarships that include help for accommodation and maintenance can be granted in money (bank account deposit in Spain) or in kind (quota in a university residence).
