Fanb dismantles illegal mining camp in Bolívar state

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) of Venezuela hid a hard blow to illegal mining by dismantling a camp in the state of Bolívar, located in the southern region and border with Brazil. The operation, led by the FANB Operational Strategic Commander, Domingo Hernández Lárez, culminated in the destruction of five stone crushers, six electric plants, 250 meters of hose and other materials used for the illicit older extraction.

The action was carried out within the framework of the safety, defense and environmental protection operations carried out by the FANB in ​​the Amazon region. According to Hernández Lárez, those responsible for the camp operated in a «arbitrary» way and in «flagrant violation» of the law, causing serious damage to the plant layer, contaminating water sources and altering the balance of the ecosystem.

During the operation no arrests were reported, but the authorities seized various equipment and materials that were destroyed in the place. Commander Hernández Lárez emphasized that the FANB will maintain its frontal fight against illegal mining, especially in protected and strategic importance for the country.

This dismantling adds to other similar actions carried out by the FANB in ​​states such as Amazonas, where logistics camps were recently destroyed and materials used in illegal mining were seized. The Venezuelan government has reiterated its commitment to combat this scourge that threatens the environment and natural resources of the country.
