Venezuelan NGOs suffer in prudent silence the end of Usaid’s help

The suspension of funds and the cut of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which in 2024 contributed to Latin America 2.3 billion dollars, begins to take effect in the region with the closure of several humanitarian care programs and of another kind, with the consequent claim of non -governmental organizations in different countries.

One of the exceptions is Venezuela, where the matter is not talked openly by civil society, given the interpretation that the Government of Nicolás Maduro is giving.

According to the authorities, all the money of US cooperation agencies was delivered in dark corrupt schemes to finance opposition and conspiracies, through NGOs and media, as reiterated by Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello this Thursday:

«We have a very advanced investigation on this issue of financing, which I am almost certain that it will serve the United States government. Media, NGOs, implementers, this is exploiting the United States government because they saw at the time that it was a mechanism to overthrow President Nicolás Maduro, and these terrorist groups act under that figure, and are paid under that figure ».

The official narrative combines news from the United States, rumors of social networks, recycling of wikileaks from previous years and even manufacturing documents to support statements.

But it has a real consequence, silence has been imposed in civil society: there are no statements, there are no interviews, especially after the arrest for 10 days of activist Carlos Correa, the public space organization, and the activation of a New law to supervise NGOs.
