Cuban tenor Andrés Sánchez Joglar was surprised by the legendary Plácido Domingo, who was among the public while playing Lieutenant Pinkerton.
After the function, the Spanish teacher shared a moment with the Cuban tenor, a gesture that the lyrical community in Cuba and Spain celebrated as recognition of his talent.
The National Lyric Theater of Cuba congratulated the artist in his networks, highlighting that it is «another pride of our lyric theater» and wishing him many successes in his career.

The trajectory of a rising tenor
Born in Havana, Andrés Sánchez Joglar discovered his talent in a fortuitous way. As he tells:
«I was in the courtyard of my house, helping my mother with home tasks, and singing. One day, in the acts of my building, the mother -in -law of a renowned baritone, Ulysses Aquino, moved. He heard my voice and touched the door of my house. He asked my mother: «Who is the child who is singing?» And she replied: «He is my son.» Then he said: «His son has a good voice, he could be an opera singer.»
Thus began its training at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory and the National Lyric Theater of Cuba, perfecting its technique with master classes by Cuban and international artists.

His debut in 2011 in Lucia Di Lammermoor marked the beginning of a career that has led him to interpret iconic roles such as Alfredo Germont in La Traviata, Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca and the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto.
In addition, he has shone in the genre of the zarzuela with works such as Cecilia Valdés and Luisa Fernanda.
From Cuba to Spain
Now based in Madrid, Sánchez Joglar He has found in Spain a new scenario for his talent. «Here in Madrid, the truth is that I feel at home, because several doors have opened to me thanks to the preparation I had in Cuba, all my teachers, and also to the effort of my parents and my own.»
Currently, he plays Gustavo in La Zarzuela Los Gavilanes at the Amaya Theater, and has participated in auditions that have allowed him to make his way in the European scene.
On the difference between the music industry in Cuba and Spain, he says:
«They are two completely different things. In Madrid, or anywhere in Europe, people love their work, their profession, and believe it. For example, here I have worked with several companies and producers receive you with open arms. In Cuba it can also happen, but less frequently. There is abuse towards the artist, few facilities. In Cuba, many times you have to take the costumes to your house to wash it, while here in Spain they give it to you ready ».
Despite the difficulties, his passage through the National Lyric Theater of Cuba was fundamental in his formation and led him to stand out in international scenarios.
The future of Andrés Sánchez Joglar
With a name already consolidated in the lyrical field, the Cuban tenor is still focused on growing. Now, as a Spanish citizen, he plans to make the most of the opportunities that Europe offers:
«I am very happy that God has put me on this path and that these doors have opened in Europe. I will continue and there will be Andrés for a while. My goal is to put my name high worldwide ».
This exciting encounter, between the Cuban tenor and Plácido Domingo, confirms that his voice has a brilliant future in the International Opera.
