The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Saturday that he would like his advisor, billionaire Elon Musk, to be “more aggressive” in the implementation of his reform agenda to cut the expense of the federal government.
«Elon is doing a great job, but I would like to see him more aggressive,» Trump wrote on his social truth platform. «Remember, we have a country to save,» he added.
Trump placed the technology entrepreneur in command of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), with the task of cutting public spending and addressing waste and alleged corruption.
Musk, the richest person in the world and Trump’s greatest donor, fired thousands of federal state officials.
In the last cuts, announced on Friday, the United States Department of Defense will reduce its civil workforce by at least 5% from next week.
A judge on Thursday rejected a union proposal to temporarily stop the dismissal of thousands of people.
The wave of cost cuts has raised resistance on several fronts and a series of contradictory judicial failures. AFP
