A man, known under the alias of «El Loco», died on Monday during a confrontation with officials of the Unit against Criminal Bands of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) on the Vieja Petare-Guarenas road, specifically at kilometer 13, sector El Carmen del Estado Miranda.
The operation was deployed as part of the security actions in the area, according to the journalist of events Román Camacho. During the procedure, officials sighted the individual, who undertook a flight to the mountainous area.
After a persecution, the subject, when he was cornered, opened fire against the PNB agents, which triggered a brief exchange of shooting in which he was injured in death.
According to preliminary investigations, «El Loco» was allegedly a member of the «El Rabbit» band of Turumo, a criminal organization that operates in this area and in Caucagüita. The identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed by the authorities.
The body was transferred to the morgue of Bello Monte, headquarters of the National Service of Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Senamecf), for the realization of the corresponding autopsy.
PNB has deployed a special operation in the area to find the whereabouts of other possible members of the band and reinforce security in the area, after the death of Wilexis Alexander Acevedo Monasterios, aka “El Wilexis”.
