The Colombian authorities have achieved significant advance in the investigation of the massacre that claimed the lives of an evangelical pastor, his wife and two children last December. Four suspects have been captured in the city of Cúcuta, in a joint operation that also covered the municipality of Villa del Rosario, in the department of Norte de Santander.
General Carlos Fernando Triana, director of the National Police, personally led the operation, which resulted in the seizure of several firearms. These weapons will be subjected to analysis to determine if they were used in the crime. The detainees are considered the alleged hitmen responsible for the massacre, which occurred in Aguachica, and will face charges for aggravated homicide, concert to commit crimes and illegal carrying of arms.
«The case is clarified with forcefulness after 60 days of work, meticulous research work, today we tell the country that these people must respond to justice for those facts they presented,» said General Triana.
The massacre, which shocked the country, occurred in broad daylight in the parking lot of a restaurant, where two armed men shot indiscriminately against the family. The Ministry of Defense has confirmed that, after an exhaustive investigation, this tragic event has been clarified.
