Alert on beaches of Mara, Zulia: Bañistas suffer from massive bites; CDI collapse for attention

An unusual incident generated alarm among the bathers of the beaches of the Mara Municipality, Zulia state, this Sunday, March 2, when dozens of people reported bites, allegedly from mantarryas, requiring mass medical care.

The Comprehensive Diagnostic Center (CDI) of San Rafael de El Moján was collapsed before the arrival of numerous affected with similar symptoms, according to the doctor on duty, Synel Molero, through a video broadcast on social networks.

«They do not get into the beaches of Mara because there are many stripes,» said Dr. Molero in the video, evidencing the magnitude of the incident.

Given the growing influx of patients, the CDI received reinforcements to address the emergency. Subsequently, it was reported that all those affected received medical care and were discharged.

Health authorities investigate the incident to determine the species responsible for the bites and evaluate the situation on the beaches of the Mara municipality. The bathers are recommended to take extreme precautions and follow the indications of local authorities.
