Although the recent releases have not been officially linked by the Havana regime with the process initiated in January, when the release of 553 people sanctioned for various crimes was announced, in agreement with the Vatican, several political prisoners and dozens of common prisoners have left prison under extrapenal license since February 27.
Among the inmates released during the weekend, according to Justice 11J, are Eduardo Reinaldo Machado Acosta, sentenced to nine years manifest in Caney, Santiago de Cuba, on July 11, 2021. Omar Bravo Cruzata, released on Saturday, March 1, in Havana, sanctioned 10 years in prison for sedition after participation in protests.
