Republicans who control the United States House of Representatives presented on Saturday their six -month provisional bill to avoid possible government closure on March 14.
The proposal would finance the Government until September, the end of fiscal year 2025, and maintain the expenditure levels approved during the last administration.
The Chamber of Representatives will be expected to vote on the 99 -page financing project on Tuesday, the Republican leadership team informed the press on Saturday.
The advisors said the financing package – called continuous resolution because it would maintain the financing approved last year – has been closely coordinated with the White House.
President Donald Trump has also pointed out his support, since this could clear the way for Republicans to control both the United States Congress, focus on extending the 2017 tax cuts implemented by Trump in his first mandate.
«All Republicans should vote (please!) Yes next week,» Trump published on social networks on Saturday.
«Great things are coming for the United States, and I ask everyone to give us a few months to get to September and be able to continue putting the» financial house «of the country in order,» he added.
The president’s support for this provisional financing plan has encouraged some hard-line Republicans who had previously voted against similar provisional financing bills, a crucial obstacle in the Chamber where the president of the organ, Mike Johnson, leads a little republican majority of 218-214.
The recently proposed cuts by the Elon Musk government efficiency department are not included in this latest Provisional Financing Law. Johnson has said that these cuts can be addressed in public spending negotiations next year.
However, Republican and Democratic negotiators have been trying to meet in recent weeks to approve the 12 public spending bills necessary for fiscal year 2025, but the Trump administration cuts to the Federal Labor Force and the continuous threats to retain the expense assigned by Congress have hindered the agreement.
The leader of the minority in the House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, said Friday that his Democratic bench could not support a partisan financing plan of the Republicans.
«I firmly oppose this resolution that will run throughout the year, since it is a power outlet for the White House and also allows the unbridled billionaire Elon Musk and President Trump to rob the US people,» said representative Rosa Delauro, the main person in charge of assigning funds in the House of Representatives, in a statement after the Financing Law project was published.
«By essentially closing the book on negotiations for financing bills throughout the year that help the middle class and protect our national security, my colleagues on the other side of the corridor have delivered their power to a multimillionaire not elected.»
However, the Republicans of the House of Representatives insist that the Financing Law is a «clean» continuity resolution because it does not contain supplementary financing.
The provisional financing bill only applies to discretionary expenditure and not to mandatory spending for social security retirement payments and government health care programs Medicare and Medicaid.
The bill proposed by Republicans increases defense spending by about 6,000 million dollars, while the expenditure not related to defense decreases by about 13,000 million dollars, said the advisors of the Republican leaders in the Chamber, adding that they trust that the total government expenditure in all federal departments is below the levels approved in the last fiscal year.
