Cuban dancer receives prestigious prize in France

The renowned Cuban dancer receives a prize in France for her brilliant career in classical dance. Viengsay Valdés has been distinguished with the order of arts and letters, in the degree of gentleman.

The award was given by the French ambassador to Cuba, Laurent Burin Des Roziers, who praised his talent and dedication.

As explained by the diplomat, this recognition is granted to people who have left a mark on art and literature, and Viengsay Valdés is a clear example of this.

A talent that transcends borders

Since its inception in the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), Viengsay Valdés He stood out for his virtuosity. During 1994, he returned to the organization and, in less than two years, was chosen main dancer.

In 2001, he reached the rank of first dancer, consolidating his status as one of the greatest exponents of the Cuban Ballet School.

Her talent has led her to shine in stages around the world, including the Grand Palais and the Pleyel room in Paris, the Royal Ballet of Denmark, the Bolshói Theater in Russia and the Washington Ballet.

In addition, he has participated in prestigious festivals and has shared the stage with iconic figures of classical dance.

In addition to his outstanding career as a dancer, Viengsay Valdés assumed the General Directorate of the National Ballet of Cuba, in 2020. From this position, he works to maintain the legacy of the Cuban Ballet School and project it towards the future.
