A delegation of the Republican Party of Cuba, headed by its president, Ibrahim Bosh, met in Madrid with Vox representatives to collect the commitment of the Spanish political group with the defense of human rights on the island and the search for democracy.
«We ask, specifically, Santiago Abascal, who is the one who is running for president, that (to be elected) uses his position to promote specific sanctions against repressors and financiers of the Cuban regime, and that promote solutions in organizations such as the OAS and the UN,» he detailed in conversation with Martí News, Magdelivia Hidalgo, the vice president of the Cuban platform.
The protection of activists and opponents pursued in Cuba was another of the issues addressed by the organization in the conversations with its Spanish ally: «We ask for support for civil society and opposition organizations inside and outside Cuba, guaranteeing their visibility and political support for independent journalists,» Hidalgo added.
The members of the Republican Party of Cuba reminded Spanish politicians of the unavoidable character of not allowing concessions to the regime, as well as any approach «that does not boost real democratic changes such as the release of political prisoners and the guarantee of free elections.»
The vice president of the Republican party said that Abascal expressed her willingness to stop the Castro influence in the region: «We talk about facing the interference of the Cuban regime in other countries, especially in Latin America.»
In this sense, the Vox leader indicated that «the fight against communism and against socialism is a global struggle.»
In November 2021, the regime prohibited the entry to the Cuban territory with several Vox members who intended to join the protest of November 15 of that year (15N) that had organized civil society groups.
«We know that in Cuba it is where communist tyranny has most been perpetuated and that is why we are supportive with all the friends who are suffering and supportive with the Republican Party of Cuba, to which we wish a triumph as soon as possible, which will be the triumph of freedom in Cuba,» said the president of Patriotes, who groups formations from 11 European countries and has 86 deputies in the community.
The meeting was also attended by the MEPs Hermann Tertsch and Jorge Martín Frías, who agreed that Europe adopts a firmer policy against the Cuban regime, and the Express Angelica Garrido politics, which directs the female front of the Republican Party of Cuba.
