The president of the United States, Donald Trump, signed on Friday an executive order that seeks to dismantle seven federal agencies, including the one that supervises the matrix of the media financed by the Government, La Voz de América, and other media subsidized by the United States throughout the world.

In addition to La Voz de América, the Global Media Agency finances Radio Europa Libre/Radio Libertad and Radio Libre Asia.
The organization has an approximate budget of 270 million dollars, has more than 2,000 employees, issues in 49 languages and has an estimated weekly audience of more than 361 million people, according to The New York Times.
However, Trump has been very critical of this agency since his first term (2017-2021).
The other agencies that Trump attacked on Friday are: the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, which focuses on preventing and resolving labor conflicts; the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Academics; the Institute of Museum and Libraries Services; The US Inter -institutional Council for homeless people; the Fund of Financial Institutions for Community Development; and the Minority Business Development Agency.
In the executive order, the president ordered the directors of the agencies to eliminate all the functions that are not legally established and reduce «the performance of their statutory functions and the personnel associated to the minimum required by law.»
«This order continues the reduction of the elements of the federal bureaucracy that the president has determined that they are unnecessary,» the order notes, published late Friday.
