Bishops of Cuba encourage Catholics from the island to pray for Pope Francis

The Catholic Bishop Conference of Cuba called on a prayer for the health of Pope Francis, affected for several weeks by a respiratory crisis.

«The night has passed peacefully, the Pope is resting,» said the Vatican this Saturday. The day before, the Holy See had said that Francisco suffered an «isolated crisis of bronchial spasm» that caused a «sudden worsening of the respiratory painting.»

This Saturday, the Cuban religious asked all the faithful and people of good will, «to join in prayer so that the Lord attends the Pope at this time of illness, as well as the doctors and other personnel who attend him.»

The leaders of the Catholic Church in Cuba have asked «every Cuban who wants», to «join and keep in mind the Pope at the moment when the world puts his look at their health.»

In 2015 Francisco visited the island for the first time, becoming the third Pope who blessed Cubans in his own land. Since then he has maintained good relations with the clergy and the government of the island.
