Boot the food to the prisoners is a crime, denouncing mother of Cuban political prisoner

The political prisoner Manuel de Jesús Rodríguez García takes at least ten days in a punishment cell after an argument with an officer of the kilo 5 and a half penalty for which he was qualified in contempt.

On February 8, the controls of the Penitentiary Establishment organized a party for the children of the inmates, an activity to which he went with his grandson, Nilda García Fleitas, the mother of Manuel de Jesús, resident in the town junction of Herradura, in the Pinar del Río province.

At the end of the small event, the relatives gave the guards some vituals to make them reach the prisoners, but Captain Norges refused to receive the jaba of the political prisoner and, immediately, ordered that the provisions be destroyed.

“He is putting their finger at all prisoners because it is very bad. That was the one who had the problem with my son, they argued and that is why they have put the contempt of my son, ”the woman told Martí News.

“Knowing the situation that the country has, hunger, misery and the need that there is, that there is no food, that there is no current and that parents sacrifice ours destroy and boten them, that is not an answer to give a mother, that is a crime, ”he said.

Upon notice, Manuel de Jesús claimed the officer and the dispute rose until ending the young man in an isolation cell.

“My son is in the punishment cell and hunger strike. I have gone to jail several times to know my son, to tell me what happened to him, that I want them to let me hear his voice and that he can tell me what happened that day, ”he said.

The comings and goings of García Fleitas to the prison did not give up any fruit. The penitentiary staff refused to give explanations to the mother, until the head of the unit, Eliecer Rodríguez Díaz received her and informed her that Manuel de Jesús is without eating in an isolated cell.

“He told me that they had destroyed all the food in front of witnesses, but I believe that what they did was eat it, while my son is there in a punishment cell involved, suffering a hunger strike. Poor, they enjoying what their mother fought and looked for him, ”he questioned.

Rodríguez García, a member of the Pinareña Democratic Alliance and representative of the Cuba initiative first in its town, was sentenced in 2016 to eight years of deprivation of liberty for the crimes of contempt, attack, sexual outrage and defamation of institutions and organizations and of The heroes and martyrs.

After more than seven years held, he left probation, a benefit that was revoked in March 2024 and was returned to prison, with an added crime, that of contempt, supposedly, for his publications against the leaders of the regime on Facebook.
