Cuban William Scull in search of a feat against the «Canelo» Álvarez

Cuban William Sculll will face the biggest challenge of his career on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, when measured against Saúl «Canelo» Álvarez. Scull, 32, is a methodical and technical fighter, although he has never faced an Álvarez caliber rival. However, their discipline and determination could represent an unexpected challenge for the Mexican.

Turki Alalshikh, director of the Riyadh Season and the General Entertainment Authority, confirmed that the fight will be held on May 3 in Riyadh and added that, if Álvarez wins, in September he could once again be absolute champion.

Álvarez, 34 and considered one of the most important names of the sport, will seek to recover the title of the FIB, which was retired in July 2024 after choosing to face Edgar Berlanga instead of fulfilling his mandatory defense against Scull. However, the Cuban has other plans: consolidate as the new face of the supermedian weight.

If Scull manages to impose himself, he will not only dethrone one of the maximum figures of the current boxing, but also put in check the plans of a possible confrontation between Canelo and Terence Crawford in September. His victory would be one of the biggest surprises of recent years and would catapult him the elite of pugilism.
