Elections of deputies, mayors and governors will now be on May 25

The National Electoral Council (CNE) announced on Wednesday that postpones the elections of governors, National Assembly (AN) and legislative councils for Sunday, May 25, initially scheduled for April 27.

In a press conference, the president of the Electoral Power, Elvis Amoroso, indicated that the decision responds to the request for “various actors” that will participate in the elections.

Amoroso explained that this seeks to promote the «participation of the different sectors of society.»

“The CNE decides that the second popular consultation to choose projects from the communal circuits (remains) for Sunday, April 27. The elections for AN, governors and regional legislative councils, for the date of Sunday, May 25, ”he said.

He reiterated that this movement is motivated by the suggestion of the «different» actors and has been welcomed by the CNE, its rectors and rectors in full.
