FIFA under investigation: They arrest a child of sexual assault on a child

A FIFA employee has been arrested in Miami as suspected of having sex with a child during a work trip from Zurich last year.

FIFA issued a statement on Wednesday, informing about the situation: «FIFA is aware of the current legal procedures in Miami. The crimes that are alleged are serious and personal, without link with their work in FIFA ».

The governing body of football added that the individual has been suspended with immediate effect and until further notice of all its functions, and that it will not give more comments at this stage.

The Miami Herald reported that Jack Colles was arrested on Friday by federal agents of the National Security Research Office at a hotel near the FIFA offices in Coral Gables.

Coles is project director at FIFA Sound, the department that organizes music for the events and broadcasts of the football entity.

Colles, British nationality and 39, supposedly he met a 14 -year -old boy through an application of quotes for men last October, and allegedly tried to meet him again last week. The child supposedly told FIFA employee who was 16 years old, and then was in contact with federal researchers.

FIFA opened a headquarters in the United States in Coral Gables in 2023, before two major tournaments that will take place in the country. He also moved his legal department there from the headquarters in Zurich.

The first 32 -team club World Cup, which will be played in 11 cities in the United States, will begin on June 14 in Miami, when the Inter Miami of Lionel Messi faces the Ahly of Egypt at the local stadium of the Miami Dolphins .
