«I’m alive and breathing,» he writes from prison to his mother Jorge Martín Perdomo

The political prisoner Jorge Martín Perdomo, who continues without telephone calls for more than 15 days, sent a letter to his mother on Tuesday explaining that he is well, after an incident with the head of the Correctional Work Camp Ho Chi Minh, in Mayabeque.

«I write to you without time to think much what I can write to you. I am alive and breathing. I have no illness,» the young man wrote in the letter, reassuring his mother, Martha Perdomo, that on Monday he planted with her husband in front of the headquarters of the Communist Party in San José de Las Lajas, demanding faith of his son’s life.

From that province, Martha explained to Martí News that she retaliates her against her son is due to complaints about the critical situation faced by inmates in that prison.

«I denounced some prosecutors the situation of this place, and the next day I had a discussion with the boss and there was little to throw me spray in my eyes. Everything because I denounced the chaos that is here. I was very firm, without lowering my head, and he does not tolerate that. He cannot look into his eyes,» said the political prisoner.

Letter from prison of the 11J prisoner Jorge Martín Perdomo.

«There we see that Jorgito simply, what he did is that the prosecutors arrived and denounced what there was. Not even denouncing for their same channels … does not fit them, they dislike.»

Martha has also denounced the conditions faced by prisoners in the Ho Chi Minh camp, a place that qualifies as «torture center», and where his son is deprived of the right to sunbathe and make telephone calls to his relatives.

The brothers Jorge and Nadir Martín Perdomo were sentenced to 8 and 6 years in prison, respectively, for participating in the historical protests of the 11J.

On his son’s attitude, Martha Perdomo said: «That was what he learned, to do justice, and what is wrong, denounce it. And that is what we have done until today.»

The letter, he said, made her cry, «because we know he is suffering,» but also gave her peace of mind. «He is strong. He is freer than all of us who are here, because he is free from the inside,» concluded the mother of the political prisoner.
