The representatives of Russia and the United States will meet tomorrow in Istanbul to address the work of the embassies of both countries, Russian Foreign Minister Serguéi Lavrov announced today.
«That meeting will take place tomorrow in Istanbul,» Lavrov said at a press conference in the Catarí capital.
The head of Russian diplomacy, who arrived in Doha from Tehran, said that this second direct contact between Moscow and Washington will demonstrate «how quickly and efficient» the parties can advance.
Lavrov explained that in Istanbul high -ranking diplomats and experts of Russia and the US will meet to examine the accumulated problems in bilateral relations as «a consequence of illegal activities of the previous administration (of the US) to create artificial obstacles to the activities of the Russian embassy.»
He added that Russia «naturally responded to Washington’s actions and created» uncomfortable conditions «for the work of the US legation in the Russian capital.
The eve, the Russian Foreign Ministry denied the celebration of a new round of consultations between Russian and American diplomatic representatives in Riyadh.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin said that the next contacts, after those held on February 18 in Riyadh, would be held at the expert level to negotiate the restoration of the dialogue through the normalization of the work of the embassies of both countries.
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, agreed on February 12 in telephone conversation with Trump the beginning of a negotiation to end the war in Ukraine and positively valued the first direct contact with the US in more than three years in Riad.
Putin considered it the first attempt to increase confidence between both powers, which described as a crucial to achieve a peaceful arrangement in Ukraine, and denied that kyiv will be excluded from negotiations.
