Three people were arrested in the last hours in the Venezuelan state of Táchira (west), border with Colombia, for transporting a total of 9.03 kilos of cocaine, the Operational Strategic Commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) (FANB) (FANB) reported this Sunday , Domingo Hernández Lárez.
The subjects carried the drug in three wrappers, which were hidden in the battery of the vehicle where they moved from Colombia, bound for the coastal state of La Guaira (north), near Caracas, the military chief said in X.
They were apprehended by FANB troops in a citizen -care (PAC) position located in the town of La Pedrera, in Táchira, Hernández Lárez added on the social network, where he shared photographs of the seized material and the detainees on his back.
Last weekend, agents of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) seized 36.2 kilos of cocaine in the Falcón state (northwest), as well as 55 kilos of marijuana in Aragua (north).
On Friday, the head of the National Anti -Drug Superintendence (Sunad), Danny Ferrer, indicated that, from the beginning of 2025 until then, the authorities had seized 1,027 kilos.
He also noted that more than 80 % of the seizures made last year, of a total of 40,015 kilos, were in the border line with Colombia.
According to the head of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, «more than 100 tons» of drugs – said to specify the figure – have been seized since 2022 on the border with the Andean country, as a result of the ‘Lightning operation of the Catatumbo’, which was reactivated at the end of January after the conflict in the Catatumbo area.
