Operational in La Guaira against overpricing in passages during Holy Week

The authorities of the Vargas municipality, in La Guaira, reported on the application of severe fines to the buses incurred in the collection of passenger of the passage on the route between Caracas and the entity during this Holy Week.

Xavier Moreno, Secretary of Government of the Mayor’s Office of the Vargas municipality, explained that an operation has been deployed in the main roads of the municipality. In this sense, police officers are verifying the documentation of carriers and ticket rates.

«We have inspected more than 300 transport units and five have fined five, whose drivers were gaining overpricing and circulating speed,» said Moreno.

According to the regional medium, the truth of Vargas, in addition to the fine of 1,600 bolivars (approximately $ 20 according to the official rate), five buses were suspended by the excessive collection of the rates.

Message to carriers

Municipal operations have focused mainly on buses that cover the Caracas – La Guaira route. During Holy Week, thousands of people from Caracas go to the coast to enjoy the beaches.

Moreno reminded carriers to comply with all traffic laws and tariff regulations. In this context, he reiterated that the rate towards Catia the sea is 65 bolivars, while the route to Caribbean has a cost of 70 bolivars.

«During the holidays, the suburban rate has an increase of 20 %, therefore, towards the spas they must collect Bs. 100 and Bs. 120 towards Naiguatá,» added Moreno, who extended an invitation to tourists to visit the region.

As for Caracas, the Metrobús service enabled a special «shirt» during this Holy Week. Citizens can use these buses to move to the beaches of La Guaira from Thursday to Sunday.
