Pentagon, FBI and other US agencies ask their officials not to respond to Musk’s request

The Pentagon and other US federal agencies, including those who now direct loyal collaborators of President Donald Trump, rejected Elon Musk’s request so that his officials explain the tasks carried out in their work weighs to lose their jobs.

This resistance indicates a possible rubbing between key figures of the Trump administration and the multillionaire and external advisor, who leads a campaign to reduce the workforce of millions of people in the government, which has caused confusion in multiple agencies.

On Saturday, federal employees received an email from the United States Personnel Management Office (OPM), to which the AFP had access, giving as a deadline to respond until 11:59 pm on Monday with tasks of their work done the previous week.

Federal workers told AFP that they had been advised not to respond immediately.

On Sunday, the Department of Defense published a note in which he asks his staff to «pause any response» to the OPM mail with the matter «What did you do last week?»

«The Department of Defense is responsible for reviewing the performance of its staff and will carry out any review according to their own procedures.» That entity said in an X publication.

Local media reported that officials appointed by the Trump Administration in the FBI (Federal Police), the State Department and the National Intelligence Office also instructed its members not to respond directly.

Kash Patel, new director of the FBI, sent a message to the staff on Saturday in which he says: «The FBI, through the director’s office, is in charge of all the review processes,» wrote the New York Times medium .

The unions also responded quickly. The American Federation of Government Employees (EGE), the largest federal employee union, promised to challenge any illegal dismissal.

Musk, the richest man in the world and Trump’s greatest donor, is in charge of spending cuts and pursueing waste in the federal government at the head of the so -called government efficiency department (Doge).

Doge is an independent entity led by Musk that has been rejected on several fronts and has received disparate judicial sentences.
