PNB stops two people by illicit shark transport in Sucre

Officials of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) arrested two citizens in the Bermúdez municipality, Sucre State, for the crime of illicit transport and marketing of sharks.

The operation was carried out in the city of Carúpano, where police officers intercepted a cava type vehicle that transported 32 shark specimens. The detainees did not possess the legal documentation that covered the capture, transport and marketing of this protected marine species.

It should be noted that in Venezuela there is a permanent ban for shark fishing, established in order to protect this species and guarantee the sustainability of marine ecosystems.

The detainees were made available to the Public Ministry, where the corresponding investigations will be carried out to determine the responsibilities penalties in this case.

The competent authorities reiterate their commitment to the protection of marine fauna and urged citizens to denounce any illegal activity that threatens the environment.
