Pope Francis has not suffered more respiratory crises and bronchospasm did not affect other organs

Pope Francis has not had more crises after yesterday, when he suffered a bronchospasm that caused a «sudden» worsening of his respiratory painting, Vatican Fuentes said Saturday, which stressed that this crisis has not affected other organs.

After spending a quiet night, the Pope woke up, had breakfast, took coffee and dedicated himself to reading the newspapers, the fountains added, who insisted that, however, his clinical picture is still complex and his prognosis, reserved.

The 88 -year -old pontiff is hospitalized on February 14 by bronchitis with polymicrobial infection to which bilateral pneumonia joined.

Francisco «had no other crisis, after yesterday’s early in the afternoon,» said the sources, who explained that bronchospasm (narrowing of the bronchial duct), was part of a respiratory crisis and has not affected other organs.

It is a «different» crisis to which he suffered a week ago, on February 22, and doctors will need between 24 and 48 hours to assess how it will affect him and if he will aggravate his situation, the sources had explained this Friday.

This morning, the press office of the Holy See reported that the Pope, which fulfills his tental day admitted to the Gemelli, spent «a quiet night» and that this morning he was «resting.»

After several days of slight improvement, this Friday the alarms broke out again when the Vatican reported that the Pope had suffered an «isolated» crisis of bronchospasm that caused a «sudden» worsening and, although he replied «well,» his prognosis remains reserved.

«The Holy Father in the afternoon of today, after a morning doing respiratory physiotherapy and in prayer in the chapel, has presented an isolated bronchospasm crisis that has determined an episode of vomiting with inhalation and a sudden worsening of the respiratory picture,» was indicated in the last Vatican medical bulletin.

The crisis for Broncoospasm made him vomit but, when he breathed, he swallowed the fluid again, so it was necessary to extract it. Now doctors must determine if those gastric juices have been able to affect the lungs.

«The Holy Father has been quickly broken and has begun with non -invasive mechanical ventilation, with a good response of gaseous exchanges,» of oxygen, the statement said.

The Argentine pontiff, who responded «well» to the therapy, was «always lucid and oriented» and «collaborating with the therapeutic maneuvers,» and was not intubated at any time, the sources said.

In recent days, his state of health had experienced an improvement and in fact, the Vatican declared Thursday that he had left behind the «critical phase.» EFE
