Pope Francis has spent a quiet night and is resting, the Vatican press office reported this Friday, when he turned 15 admitted to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome for his respiratory problems and after having left behind the critical phase.
«As in recent days, the night passed calmly and the Pope now rests,» said the Holy See in its morning statement, after Thursday’s last medical part revealed a new improvement.
The pontiff «has left behind the critical phase» in which he arrived, had explained Vatican sources, with a cautious optimism, since his clinical picture remains «complex» and his prognosis remains reserved.
The last medical bulletin, which for the second consecutive day did not include the reference to a «critical» state, indicated that «the clinical conditions of the Holy Father are also confirmed today in improvement.»
He also explained that the Pope was «alternating oxygen therapy at high flows with the oxygen mask», which provides smaller levels to the patient.
Francisco, 88, was hospitalized on February 14 by bronchitis with polymicrobial infection to which bilateral pneumonia joined, a picture that alarmed mainly because of his age and because he was removed part of a lung in his youth.
Its clinical situation remains «complex» and, therefore, its prognosis remains reserved and will need «more days of clinical stability» to clarify the evolution of your health, at least it will have to spend this weekend.
This Thursday, Francisco underwent the respiratory physiotherapy prescribed in recent days but also to the rest for the day of his admission.
In addition, in the afternoon he went to pray to the chapel of the private apartment that the potatoes have in the tenth plant at the Gemelli hospital in Rome, to whose doors the faithful have taken flowers and candles to wish him a speedy recovery.
Then he dedicated himself, as in recent days, to work tasks, such as studying and signing documents
At the moment all the events of this Saturday and also the Angelus on Sunday have been canceled. EFE
