Rubio accelerates delivery of 4,000 million dollars in military aid to Israel

The United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said on Saturday that he had signed a statement to accelerate the delivery of about 4,000 million dollars in military assistance to Israel.

The administration of President Donald Trump, who assumed the position on January 20, has approved almost $ 12,000 million in important foreign military sales to Israel, Rubio said in a statement, adding that «it will continue to use all the tools available to fulfill the long -standing commitment of the United States with the security of Israel, including the means to counteract the threats to security.»

Rubio said he had used the emergency authority to accelerate the delivery of military assistance to Israel, which is now in a fragile high fire with the terrorist organization designated by the United States, Hamas, in his war in Gaza.

Hamas began the war with his terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, an attack that left 1,200 dead in Israel, mostly civilians, and took about 250 hostages. Since then, the Israeli military offensive has killed more than 48,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza health officials, more than half of whom have been women and children.

The Pentagon said Friday that the State Department had approved the possible sale of bombs, demolition equipment and other weapons worth almost 3,000 million dollars to Israel.

The Administration notified to Congress these possible sales of weapons in an urgent way, avoiding a long time practice to give the presidents and high -ranking members of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Senate’s House of Representatives and Foreign Relations the opportunity to review the sale and request more information before making a formal notification to Congress.

Friday’s ads marked the second time in the last weeks that the administration of President Donald Trump has declared an emergency to quickly approve weapons sales to Israel. The Biden administration also used the emergency authority to approve the sale of weapons to Israel without Congress review.

On Monday, the Trump administration annulled an order of the Biden era that required him to inform about possible violations of international law related to weapons supplied by the United States by allies, including Israel. He also eliminated most of American humanitarian aid abroad.

The high fire agreement between Israel and Hamas of January 19 stopped 15 months of fighting and raided the way for conversations about the end of the war, while led to the release of 33 Israeli hostages retained in Gaza and about 2,000 prisoners and Palestinian detainees held by Israel.

Hours after the first phase of the high fire agreed, Israel said on Sunday morning that he would adopt a proposal from Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, for a high temporary fire in Gaza during the periods of Ramadan and Easter.

Israel and Hamas have accused each other of violating the high fire, which questions the second phase of the agreement that aims to include the release of additional hostages and prisoners, as well as measures towards a permanent end of the war.
