The Red Cross of Venezuela supports repatriated migrants with medical and psychosocial care

The Red Cross of Venezuela reported on Monday that it provided comprehensive medical attention and psychosocial support to the group of 242 repatriated migrants, including 74 minors, who arrived at the Caribbean nation deported from the United States, on a flight from Mexico.

In a press release, the institution explained that a group of more than 50 volunteers attended minors and women, through comprehensive medical care and psychosocial support, in addition to the delivery of personal hygiene kits, medications and refreshments ».

He also said that the children were treated by pediatricians.

The Red Cross explained that this «humanitarian action», which adds to those made on the two previous flights of deported Venezuelans from the United States, elevates «more than 600 the number of people served by that institution, with the support of the Federation International of Red Cross Societies and the Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross ».

A group of 242 Venezuelan migrants, including women and children, returned to the country on a plane from Mexico on Monday, said the head of the Interior Ministry, Diosdado Cabello.

The minister explained that between the group of children and adolescents, which are 74, there is a 16 -year -old girl, who «comes alone» and also other children under 18 who «have no identification, because they were born there and They have not been registered ».

Cabello reported that returnees will comply with medical and identification protocols, while adults will be reviewed their police file.

When asked about the next arrival of repatriated Venezuelans, the official said he believes that «this week» Venezuela will send airplanes to Mexico, where, he added, there are around 500 people who are ready to return.

Last Thursday, a group of 176 Venezuelans returned in an airplane from Honduras, where they had arrived from the American military base in Guantanamo (Cuba), in which they were retained. Of this group, eight have crimes, including homicide, Cabello said today.

Previously, on February 10, 190 people arrived deported through two flights.

The administration of Nicolás Maduro said that none of the repatriated migrants is part of the Transnational Train of Aragua, as the US government stated.
