Security officials arrested Morelia Galilea López, involved in theft of $ 12,000 in a shopping center in La Candelaria, Caracas. Along with her, her husband, Jesús Alberto Rivero Abreu, former CICPC official and fugitive from justice was captured.
The couple was arrested at the Cipriano Castro airport in San Antonio del Táchira when they tried to leave the country with false identities, according to the director of the Cicpc, Douglas Rico. Rivero Abreu had escaped on February 10 of his detention center in Anzoátegui, where he served for homicide.
López, along with two other women and a minor, perpetrated the robbery in the store on December 31. The criminal group operated in several regions of the country, including Anzoátegui, Bolívar, Carabobo, Caracas, Lara and Portuguese. His modus operandi consisted of studying commercial establishments and, using the minor as a lure, subtracting the money from the cash register.
According to Rico, this group had at least 12 files open in different Cicpc delegations for similar robberies. The authorities continue to look for the others involved in the theft, identified as Aurelia Valeria Hernández López, Ana Yakary Rodríguez Linares, and the minor.
During the detention, false cards, cash in dollars and Colombian weights, gold garments and two watches were seized. The case was placed at the order of the Public Ministry.
