Trump ordered the Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and the rest of the heads of departments and agencies that cancel any contract they may have with the firm Covington & Burling LLP, with office in the city of Washington.

Also, he ordered to suspend the authorizations of security in possession of lawyer Peter Koski, partner of the firm, or the rest of the members, partners or employees of Covington & Burling LLP.

The firm, according to The New York Times, has several high-profile Democratic lawyers who worked for the governments of Barack Obama (2009-2017) and Biden on payroll.

Smith investigated Trump’s alleged attempts to subvert the results of the 2020 elections in the United States that he lost against Biden, a dismissed case after the electoral triumph of the Republican in the 2024 elections.

The special prosecutor resigned from his position before Trump’s return to power on January 20, but in his final report published days before he said that there was sufficient evidence to condemn the now president.

Trump has repeatedly accused Smith of having politicized his case and leading a witch hunt against him.
