UN asks for «exhaustive investigations», after discovering human remains in a ranch in Mexico

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN-DH) demanded on Friday «thorough, independent and transparent investigations» on the crimes committed in Rancho Izaguirre, in Jalisco, where calcined human remains and personal objects were found

Liz Throssell, spokesman for the organization, described this finding as a «deeply disturbing trauma of the disappearances linked to organized crime in Mexico.»

He also urged the authorities to reinforce the work that allows identifying the remains found and giving way to families to participate in the search, research and accountability processes.

On the other hand, he asked the Government to improve preventive measures and to guarantee the protection and support of families victims of disappearances in their search for truth, justice and repair. «

The office indicated that in the place, allegedly used by the Jalisco Nueva Generación poster to «train young people who were forcedly recruited by false job offers», these «were subjected to brutal treatment» and those who resisted «were killed, which agrees with the presence of bone fragments and carbonized human remains in the place.»

But he insisted that the «discovery is even more disturbing», because in 2024, the National Guard and the State Prosecutor’s Office had previously raided the place «without detecting crucial evidence.»

The weekend, the Guerreros Searchers collective of Jalisco, which is identified as defenders of human rights and seekers of missing persons, published photographs in their social networks of the findings within the farm.

The land was found by activists thanks to an anonymous call. On Wednesday, the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the location of six common graves where human remains were.

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, described the finding on terrible Monday and indicated that «it corresponds to the security cabinet, the prosecutors and at the time to the courts or the judiciary, since investigating and seeing in particular in this case, which had already been done.»
