USAID will say goodbye to 2,000 employees and will give the administrative decline to much of the rest

Some 2,000 employees who work for the US agency for international development (Usaid) will be fired this Sunday and much of the rest of full -time personnel will have an administrative decrease after midnight.

In an email sent to the affected workers, which circulates in social networks, the agency indicated that as of today at 23:59 time EST (5:59 GMT on Monday) “All personnel hired directly by USAID, with exception of the personnel responsible for critical functions for the mission, will be put on administrative license globally ”.

And he added that «at the same time, USAID is beginning to apply a reduction of personnel that will affect approximately 2,000 employees in the United States.»

According to the mail, the affected workers will receive a notification today with more information and those employees considered essential and, therefore, exempt from being fired, will be informed in the same way throughout this afternoon.

The US president, Donald Trump, signed at the end of January an executive order that suspended for 90 days all US humanitarian aid, mainly channeled through USAID, to check what money is invested.

Last Friday, a federal judge ruled to continue the president’s plan to take thousands of USAID employees through administrative casualties, after a lawsuit filed by a group of unions against the measure.

Secretary of Defense defends dismissals in the Pentagon

The US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegesh, defended the dismissals of high -ranking military of the Pentagon by President Donald Trump, noting that the Government wants to place officials who do not oppose barriers to the Republican agenda.

In an interview with the Fox News chain, Hegseth said that the purge of personnel in the Pentagon is a common practice and that there is a «civil control of the military.»

«The president deserves to choose his key team for national security advice and military affairs,» the official insisted.

Restructuring

President Trump fired last Friday to the Chief of the Ee.U., Charles Q. Brown Jr., and proposed as a substitute the Lieutenant General of the Air Force, give ‘Razin’ Caine.

Leadership change occurs in the midst of a pentagon restructuring to meet a Trump directive to «adjust their priorities and maximize its efficiency», which will say goodbye to between 5 and 8 % of its about 950,000 employees civilians

In Sunday’s interview in Fox, Hegseth also said he was looking for new nominations for the main lawyers of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, known as the General Defensor Judges (TJAG, for its acronym in English).

When asked about the criticisms that circulate in social networks about this decision, the Secretary of Defense said the Trump government wants lawyers who do not oppose the president’s agenda.

«Ultimately, we want lawyers who provide a solid constitutional advice and that do not exist to try to be obstacles for anything, nothing that happens in their positions,» he said. EFE
