The US government has notified the UN Office of Human Rights to date to suspend seven of its foreign aid programs. The measure also affects Ukraine.
The US State Department sent notifications related to current projects in Equatorial Guinea, Iraq and Ukraine between February 25 and 26, while Usaid, the world’s largest development cooperation agency, for its part, has confirmed the suspension of projects in Bangladés, Colombia, Ethiopia and Peru, according to Ravina Shamdasani, spokesman for the United Nations Office.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced at the end of January his intention to freeze for 90 days all external development aid programs in order to submit them to review.
