Verify resumption of release of political prisoners in Cuba

Human Rights Organizations have verified in the last hours the resumption of the release processes of several convicted of the Havana regime, for political reasons.

The Justice 11J Group said they have verified the grant this week of prison benefits anticipated to political prisoners and «common prisoners.»

Some have benefited through release and others with «the prolongation of non -private benefits that had already been previously granted,» said the organization that monitors arrests and judicial processes from the anti -government burst of July 11, 2021.

For its part, the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights, based in Madrid, Spain, announced this Saturday that the Cuban regime released the political prisoner Luis Enrique Álvarez González and Rolando Sardiña, who was unjustly sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Aylín Sardiña Fernández, the latter’s sister, said she was first transferred to the Gutlet prison, then to the southern team where on the morning of this Saturday she was released.

According to the count of this NGO, a total of 14 people have been released since the process was reactivated on February 27.

The Cuban regime resumed this Thursday the releases promised to Pope Francis, initiated in early January and in which at least the imprisoned participants of the protests of July 11, 2021 are expected to be released.

Since then, only two high -profile political prisoners have been released, opposition leaders José Daniel Ferrer and Félix Navarro, also condemned in the so -called black spring of Cuba in 2003.

Maricela Sosa Ravelo, vice president of the Supreme Court, by announcing releases in January, said that «it is not an amnesty or an pardon» but «benefits of early release.»
