The US deportes 3 migrants to Venezuela after judge blocked his transfer to Guantanamo

Three immigrants who won a restriction order against the United States government for Avoid its transfer to the American base in GuantanamoCuba, were deported this week on direct flights to Venezuela, according to judicial documents published on Friday.

The three men were deported on Monday, one day after a federal judge approved a temporary order that blocked a possible transfer to Guantanamo.

Venezuelan immigrants are being sent daily from a military base in El Paso, Texas, to Guantanamo as part of President Donald Trump’s whip against immigration.

The lawyers of the deported men affirmed that they were subject to false accusations of the United States government to belong to gangs, which could expose them to damage.

«The unfounded accusations of the government in this case that two of the (immigrants) are affiliated with the infamous train of Aragua pose serious concerns about risks for their lives and freedom when returning to Venezuela,» said lawyer Jessica Myers Vosburgh, of the Center for Constitutional Rights, before a federal judge.

Immigrant rights groups have filed a separate lawsuit in which they require being able to contact people who have been sent to Guantanamo without access to legal advice or communication with their relatives.

Millions of desperate people have fled from Venezuela in the midst of a serious economic and political crisis during the government of President Nicolás Maduro, and have migrated to other parts of Latin America or the United States.

The Train de Aragua gang originated in a prison in the Venezuelan state of Aragua more than a decade ago.
