Air Europa reinforces its connection with Cuba

Air Europa announced an increase in the frequency of its flights to Cuba, from six to seven weekly flights.

From the summer of 2025, passengers can travel daily between Madrid and Havana, eliminating the interruptions that existed on Sundays.

This adjustment responds to Air Europa strategy to strengthen its presence in Latin America and the United States.

In addition to Cuba, the airline will increase its frequencies in Medellín (Colombia), Asunción (Paraguay), Panama and New York (USA), consolidating its role in transatlantic air traffic.

Havana-Madrid in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner

Flights to Cuba will be operated with a Boeing 787 UX 52 Dreamliner, a modern aircraft that allows the Havana-Madrid route to be covered in 8 hours and 40 minutes. This plane model is known for its efficiency in fuel consumption and comfort for passengers.

In tourist class, Air Europa offers reclining seats, Wi-Fi payment of payment, plug and USB port in the seat, in addition to access to entertainment on board. However, estimated CO₂ emissions for this journey reach 1,439 kg, 132 % above average.

The cost of the round trip ticket between Madrid and Havana is around 1,000 euros, although the price can vary according to the anticipation with which the ticket is bought.

Expansion in Latin America and the United States

The increase in flights to Cuba is only part of Air Europa’s strategic plan for next year. In 2025, the airline will expand its transport capacity to 3.5 million seats on its long radio routes, exceeding the figure of 3.3 million 2024.

Air Europa will also incorporate three new Boeing 787 Dreamline to its fleet, which will improve the flight experience and optimize operational efficiency.

Currently, the airline already operates daily flights to key destinations such as Miami, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Lima and Santo Domingo. Havana adds to this list, ensuring that travelers have more options and flexibility.

How does Air Europa compare with Iberia on the route to Havana?

While Air Europa reinforces its operation in Havana with daily flights, Iberia has opted for a different strategy. The Spanish airline has subcontracted to Iberojet and Wamos Air to operate the Madrid-La Havana route in the coming months.

From March 1 to March 29, Iberojet will cover the route with an Airbus A330. Then, Wamos Air will take over from April 11 to June 29 and, after a pause, from July 22 to September 30.

The configuration of the subcontracted aircraft maintains a design similar to that of Iberia, but this strategy reflects the challenges facing the airline to maintain its operation in Cuba, in the midst of an expansion plan in Latin America and the United States.

The increase in Air Europa flights will benefit travelers with more schedule options and greater seat availability. In addition, when operating with its own fleet, the airline guarantees stability in service and comfort in its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Air Europa continues to bet on Cuba

Air Europa, founded in 1986 and part of the Globalia group, has consolidated its presence in the Spanish and Latin American air market.
