Dozens of Cuban immigrants who entered the United States with the I-220A immigration document demonstrated Friday in front of the Cuba Embassy in that country and near the National Capitol, in Washington DC, to demand a solution to its cases.
Several videos disseminated in social networks show immigrants in front of the diplomatic headquarters of Cuba, carrying posters that demand the freedom of political prisoners and denouncing human rights violations committed by the Havana regime.
In the demonstration in which communism shouted «down», «down the castros» and «freedom for Cuba», they argue that they are political exiles.
Some explain that they went to the US capital after long hours of travel.
The «order of freedom under word», also known as Form I-220A, were granted to certain people who were detained and then were released by immigration officers. This form in general includes some requirements and conditions in exchange for being released from detention, such as having to attend hearings in the immigration court.
In the Friday demonstration, a group message, they addressed Cuban American congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, who has advocated these immigrants to be granted a migratory document that allows them to take advantage of the Cuban adjustment law, to obtain permanent residence in the US.
Salazar went to the protesters in a video filmed at the Miami International Airport: «Friends of the I220A, I know they are in Washington, unfortunately the congress is not in session at this time, but I wanted to send all my love and all my support. You know that I have been fighting from the first day Painted, I will not faint. «
The Cuban American was confident that «the White House and the Trump administration will understand what the situation» of «half a million Cubans, young people, people who want to undertake in this country, people who want to work, who do not want to come to live from the government, which what you want is to contribute to the American economy. I know it well and that’s why I am their most faithful voice there in Washington.»
