Fatal surprise: attendees of musical festival in Mexico, they ended up crushed

Two people died this Saturday for the collapse of a decorative structure at a musical festival in Mexico City, local authorities reported, who ordered to suspend the event.

Civil Protection reported that during the Ax Ceremony Festival, a decorative structure collapsed when it was mobilized by a crane and left two injured people, who then died in a hospital.

The Festival summoned thousands of people during the weekend in the Bicentennial Public Park, in the Miguel Hidalgo district, west of the Mexican capital.

The entity said the Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation to determine responsibilities and added that the facts «were the result of poor supervision of preventive measures by the organizers and the operational areas of the Mayor’s Office Miguel Hidalgo.»

For their part, the Miguel Hidalgo district authorities ordered the suspension of the festival «until the events occurred are clarified.»

In a statement, they added that the accident obeyed the organizers placed cranes that were not contemplated in the original plan that was reached before the authorities.

The festival still had activities on Sunday with the presentation of several artists.

The Instagram festival account reported that I was working to contact the relatives of two people who still reported as «injured.»

Mexico City is host of concerts and music festivals with world -class stars that usually attract thousands of people. Colombian singer Shakira just culminated a series of presentations in the capital.
