Five people arrested in Zulia state accused of drug trafficking

Five men were arrested by troops from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) of Venezuela in a sector of the Zulia state (northwest, border with Colombia) accused of trafficking drugs, the Operational Strategic Commander of the Military Institution, Domingo Hernández Lárez, reported Thursday.

Through X, the military chief explained that they destroyed a logistics camp «associated with drug trafficking and psychotropic substances.»

In this structure, they found 10 boats, 11 engines, five cell phones, two GPS equipment, 70 plastic containers with 200 liters of fuel, among other materials, according to Hernández Lárez.

«Venezuela maintains an operational deployment in the daily struggle against drug scourge and transnational crime that tries to use our territory as a drug trafficking platform,» said the official.

On Wednesday, Hernández Lárez reported on the arrest of five men in a sector of the Amazonas state (southern, border with Brazil and Colombia), who were accused of illegal mining.

The subjects, with ages between 23 and 35, were arrested «in flagrance» by FANB officials, who also seized four motobombs and two sieves and dismantled an «unauthorized camp», according to a publication of the military chief in the social network X, where he shared images of the operation.

He also described the detainees as «violators of the law» and «predators of nature», whose protection, «was» a duty and a citizen right. » EFE
