It is recorded in Cuba notable increase in repression, most of the shares were against women

In March there were at least 283 repressive actions against the civilian population in Cuba, the majority directed against women, the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights (OCDH) denounced on Thursday.

«The repression increases with respect to January and February, when 152 and 139 repressive actions occurred, respectively. The focus of interest of the operational actions of the Political Police is mainly in the activities of the Blanco Ladies and in the humanitarian initiatives promoted by opposition leaders and civil society. Likewise, abuses in the penitentiary system continue,» the OCDH denounced.

The NGO based in Madrid, Spain, ensures that, of these actions, 84 were arbitrary arrests.

It is also specified that 52% of these incidents occurred against women.

One of the complaints to which the OCDH gave more visibility was that of activist Lisandra Villamen who warned about a beating against the Cuban political prey Mayelín Rodríguez Prado, perpetrated by her jailers in the provincial prison of women of Camagüey.

«They fell into blows and took her out of the cell, because the girl was asking for change of galley and the boss ignored her,» said the activist.

Among the main violations appear, in addition, the police siege to the homes of activists, threats, abuses against political and common prisoners, harassment, police citations and impediments to religious freedom, indicates the entity.

The most affected provinces were Matanzas, Havana, Villa Clara and Santiago de Cuba.
