Meeting between Mike Hammer and opposition leaders emphasizes religious freedom and other rights in Cuba

The business manager of the United States Embassy in Cuba, Mike Hammer, held a meeting on Monday with the leader of the ladies of Blanco, Berta Soler, and her husband, the political and activist expriceseer Ángel Moya.

Hammer «had a productive meeting» with the opponents, the diplomatic headquarters in his social networks reported with a photo of the meeting.

«They discussed the situation of human rights in Cuba, the importance of freedom of religion, and the promotion of the dignity of all Cubans,» said the US embassy.

During the meeting at the diplomatic headquarters, Hammer, Soler and Moya called on the Cuban regime to free all political prisoners.

In recent months, the high American diplomat has held several meetings with human rights activists, opponents and relatives of political prisoners in several provinces of the island, and lawyer for the liberation of the more than a thousand Cuban political prisoners.

He has also met with other political opposition leaders, including Martha Beatriz Roque, Félix Navarro, José Daniel Ferrer and the evangelical pastor Lorenzo Rosales Fajardo, released after more than three and a half years in prison for charges related to the protests of July 11, 2021.
