Relatives denounce precariousness and lack of medicines for diabetic political prisoner in Cuban prison

In deplorable conditions, without the medicines and supplies that the independent journalist Jorge Bello Domínguez is located as a diabetic and precarious food.

The political prisoner was transferred to that prison from the East Combined without prior notice or time to collect their belongings, their relatives informed Martí News, who managed to visit him on Friday.

In Guanajay the conditions are even worse than in the east combined, said his wife Yuleidy López González.

«The day of the visit, which was Friday, had not yet given him the diet that corresponds to him because of his medical condition (…). He had already had three days without the medical diet, and without injected, because there were no syringe,» said the woman.

He explained that the conditions in that penitentiary center «are deplorable», and despite that situation, the guards prohibit the prisoners to pass the foods that relatives take lunch when the visit corresponds to them.

López González said that since they transferred her husband to that prison, she fed on how little she had left of the sack with vituallas of the previous visit, because the food they give her in Guanajay «there is no one who commits her.»

The conditions of the place for family visits are not adequate either.

«The visit there, in the public, is a relative on top of the other, one prisoner on top of the other, because that is a hole. In those bathrooms you cannot enter, and I run out of everything I can tell you,» said the communicator’s wife.

For his part, his mother, Marta Domínguez, expressed concern about the conditions under which he saw his son.

«You are not feeling good health, from the team comes with a strong pain of tooth. They have not yet given medical assistance, that worries me a lot. That is horrible, since we arrived we spend work to enter, to review things. A lot of public, a very narrow dining room for so many people, one next to the other that we could not move,» he said.

About the food, it coincided with the daughter -in -diver: «I was cold, that was a dirty water with a little potato. The little I could see, that is neither food, that nor a dog eats it.»

Dominguez added that Jorge’s health situation is not the best.

«Jorge is a diabetic man; I had to take the street syringe and ask friendships to be able to supply his insulin and cotton, because there is neither there in the prison. He told me that he was not given time to take those medications, because the needles, everything was in the infirmary, and that he could not inject the insulin.»

Jorge Bello Domínguez, 49 years old, turns 15 years old for his participation in the popular protests of July 11, 2021 in the town of Güira de Mamena, in the province of Artemis. He was sentenced by the Military Court of the West region for the alleged crimes of sabotage with a continuous character, robbery with force, public disorders and contempt.
