Revocence to political prisoner for refusing to collaborate with state security

The Cuban authorities revoked probation to the political prisoner Jaime Alcides signed Rodríguez, released last January as part of the negotiations between the regime of Havana and the Vatican, denounced the independent legal consulting Cubalex.

The organization shared on its social networks a video of the mother of the political prisoner, Yuneisy Rodríguez García, in which she explains that her son was summoned multiple times by a State Security officer, identified as Ariel, who tried to coerce him to collaborate with them.

«When refusing, he was threatened with the revocation of his probation,» said the woman.

Rodríguez signed remained, since April 1, in the Capri Police Unit, in LaHabana, waiting to be transferred to prison, Cubalex reported.

Rodríguez García explained in the video that, to date, family members had not received any official document that explains the reasons for the revocation, or demonstrating a breach of the terms established for the release of their child. «This total lack of transparency deepens the arbitrariness of the process,» said Cubalex.

According to the video, the authorities verbally informed the mother of the political prisoner who faced charges, but did not specify which. Nor has a formal accusation been submitted against him, said the independent organization.

According to the Cubalex report, the authorities claim that Rodríguez signed was absent from his work for 72 hours without justification, but the mother ensures that the political prisoner presented a medical certificate for an asthma crisis.

«From Cubalex, we warn about this serious violation of due process and Jaime’s fundamental rights signed Rodríguez,» said the NGO, and requested the release of all political prisoners on the island.

Released last January 19, Rodríguez signed had been sentenced to 7 years in prison for his participation in the protests of July 11, 2021.
