The world automobile sector has been very affected by the tariffs of the United States, which impose 25% tax on imported vehicles.

In an immediate signal, the British manufacturer of luxury cars Jaguar Land Rover indicated on Saturday that he would stop shipments to the United States in April while approaching «the new commercial terms.»

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Sunday that he was willing to intervene directly to support the affected sectors and then revealed plans to help the automotive industry.

However, these plans do not modify the goal of prohibiting sales of gasoline and diesel cars from 2030 and hybrids in 2035.

The Government had already announced an aid of 2.3 billion sterling pounds (3,000 million dollars) to boost the production of electric vehicles.

On Sunday he added that the rules on the objectives and the companies may, until 2026, will be under the annual partial objectives of electric vehicles if they compensate for that deficit before 2030.

«Global trade is transforming, so we must go faster and faster in the remodeling of our economy,» said Starmer.

«That is why today I announce bold changes in the way we support our car industry. This will help to ensure that local companies can export British cars built by British workers worldwide, ”he added.

The measures package will exempt the manufacturers of small amounts from the objectives, including supercar brands such as McLaren and Aston Martin.

Support for the United Kingdom’s car industry, which uses 152,000 people, «will remain under review as the impact of new tariffs is made clear,» added the government.
