They denounce Cuban Mercenarism before the EU Defense Commissioner

The general secretary of the opposition coalition Assembly of the Cuban Resistance (ARC), Dr. Orlando Gutiérrez Boronat, met on Tuesday in Valencia, Spain, with the Commissioner for the Defense Industry and Space of the European Union Andrius Kubilius.

The Cuban activist raised Kubilius the urgent situation of the more than 5,000 Cubans who would be fighting against the Ukrainian people under orders of Russia, as well as the presence of troops of the communist regime in Belarus, as part of the mutual defense agreement between the dictatorships of Minsk and Havana.

«I cannot comment on the response and comments of the commissioner about it, but I can say that as a result of this meeting the Cuban resistance has open doors and access to one of the key commissioners of the European Union,» said Gutiérrez Boronat after the meeting, according to a press release from the opposition coalition in exile.

Several organizations of the Cuban exile have called on the EU to cease to finance the Cuba regime through mechanisms such as the Agreement for Political Dialogue and Cooperation, the Paris Club, the Government of Sweden, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, the NATO parliamentary assembly, the Congress of Spain and other institutions of the community block.

«The European Parliament is with the freedom of Cuba. Now we are going for the commission,» said Gutiérrez Boronat.

Last week, the Swedish deputy Markus Wiechel He said before the Council of Europe that «in Cuba, despite the statements about political reforms, the regime continues – and even intensifies – repression, suppressing dissidents and preventing the hopes of a democratic transition.» The conservative representative of the Swedish Democratic Party said that it is a contradiction that Europe remains financed for totalitarian regimes in Latin America.
