A 25 -year -old man was arrested in western Venezuela for the alleged theft of «strategic material» of the state -owned Electric Corporation (Corpoelec), the director of the Corps of Criminal, Scientific and Criminal Investigations (Cicpc), Douglas Rico.

«The man violated the infrastructure of the facilities of the national electricity company and stole a dielectric pole,» he explained rich in a publication in Instagram

He also explained that the subject after being approached by police officers, «undertook flight aboard a vehicle, causing a persecution that culminated a few meters away,» so he was arrested.

Last February, Rico reported the arrest of three men for the alleged theft of electrical ducts of public institutions that they later sold.

As explained by the official on that date, the subjects «were dedicated to stealing electrical drivers from different public institutions», which «subsequently marketed third parties to obtain economic profits.»

The men – 25, 27 and 45 years of age – were arrested by Cicpc agents in a town in the coastal state of Sucre (Northeast), in an operation during which officials seized «as evidence six meters of electric conductor,» said Rico in a publication in the Instagram social network.

Since 2022, the Public Ministry (MP, Prosecutor’s Office) intensified its fight against all those or groups that seek to «destroy» public facilities, such as Corpoelec, the National Anonymous Telephone Company (Cantv), Hydrocapital (Hydrological) and the PDVSA oil company.
