Three officials of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) were deprived of liberty after being denounced for extorting and stealing a young man who entered the country from Colombia in an Alcabala. The arrest occurred thanks to the victim’s public complaint, Román Rodríguez, which went viral on the social network Tiktok.
In his story in Tiktok, Rodríguez explained: “On April 13 I was heading from Colombia to Maracaibo and in a Alcabala de Sinamaica for the police and make a requisition. I brought $ 1,435. I brought them very well stored, but in the way they made the requisition they realized that it brought that money.”
After the dissemination of the video and an exhaustive internal investigation, the PNB itself announced the degradation and arrest of the officials involved. «We inform the citizens that, in response to a complaint received through social networks, an investigation into the conduct of officials who would be involved in acts that compromise integrity and respect, being finally placed on the order of the Public Ministry, was initiated, said the order of the Public Ministry,» said the police agency.
The arrested officials were identified as inspector (CPNB) David Jesús Reyes Lozano; First Officer (CPNB) Yoban José Pérez Silva and Agent (CPNB) Kender de Jesús Secial Pirela. The PNB reaffirmed its commitment to justice and the protection of the rights of all Venezuelans.
For his part, Román Rodríguez published a new video on social networks expressing his thanks to the security forces for the rapid response and detention of those responsible. «Today I am extremely grateful because the video we made on social networks gave its positive fruit that it was what we wanted. Extremely grateful to the institutions because the police are already detained. It means that the institutions are working efficiently,» said the victim.
