Israel releases 602 Palestinian prisoners in hostage exchange




Israel announced the release of 602 Palestinian prisoners this Saturday, as part of an exchange agreement with the Hamás group. This agreement contemplates the release of Israeli hostages captured during a surprise attack on October 7 and the remains of some of them.

Agreement details:

  • Liberation of prisoners: Israel will release 602 Palestinian prisoners, including 50 sentenced to life imprisonment, 60 with high sentences, 47 previously released in the Shalit Agreement of 2011 and 445 captured in Gaza since October 7.
  • Hostage release: Hamas will release six Israeli hostages alive and deliver the remains of four deceased hostages.
  • Reasons of the agreement: The agreement seeks an exchange of «all for all» that includes women, children and people with serious and adult diseases, in exchange for Palestinian women and children arrested in Israeli prisons.
  • Hamas: He held the agreement as an «achievement» and a «victory» for the Palestinian people.
  • Israel: He has not issued official comments in this regard.
