
The Government of Venezuela has attended in recent days the effects caused by heavy rains in at least 46 municipalities from five states in the west of the country, in which they have not registered deceased, according to a balance offered by President Nicolás Maduro and regional authorities.

Through a mandatory radio and television broadcast, Maduro indicated that in the state of Mérida (west) there are 370 affected homes, 103 of them with «total damage», 151 in «high risk» and 116 with «partial affectation.
«Everything that is at high risk must be removed is an order,» said the president.
He also said that there are 25 bridges in the region that collapsed, 16 of them with «total loss», while 8,456 families are isolated by the fall of «roads, bridges.»
Previously, the governor of Mérida, Arnaldo Sánchez, informed that there are 12 municipalities harmed in this Andean state for the rains.
Meanwhile, the governor of the Portuguese state, Primitive Cedeño, indicated that there are «more than 1,300 people with effects» after the rains in eight municipalities in the region.
«We have many landslides in the state area, many landslides,» he added in the same transmission, without offering more details.
Likewise, the Minister of Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello, added that there is already machinery to start repairing a bridge of the José Antonio Páez highway, which connects to the regions of the Andes and the center of the country and that passes through the Portuguese state, which collapsed on Wednesday.
Cabello said it is estimated to be complete the work on this road, through which about 16,000 vehicles pass, in about 60 days.
He added that in the Portuguese state there are a little more than 6,000 hectares planted affected by the rains.
In Trujillo state, Governor Gerardo Márquez said that authorities have already been deployed in six of the municipalities most harmed by the storm, in which they registered, he said, a total of 92 housing destroyed.
«We have no losses of human lives, we have the state fully controlled,» he added.
For his part, the governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, indicated, through a video call with Maduro, that there are 870 isolated families in a mountainous population.
«The two communication routes (of the population) were in isolation, it is expected that a kind of slab must be dynamited to make a way,» he explained.
Bernal delved on Instagram that a team from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), Civil Protection and the Police addresses this town to be able to serve its inhabitants.
He also said that the authorities have had to demolish 85 homes in the state due to the displacement of «large masses of land and the river»
«In total, 240 homes have been affected in 12 municipalities, especially in Fernández Feo, Cárdenas, San Cristóbal and Junín,» he said.
This Thursday, the Chavista Executive attended «more than 640 families» from indigenous communities of the Apure (west) state that were affected by the rains last days, according to the Venezuelan state television channel (VTV).
The media detailed, in a transmission, that the inhabitants received attention in general medicine and pediatrics, in addition to supplements, vitamins, food and were distributed domestic gas.
On Wednesday, Maduro announced the activation of a special plan to respond to the rains «that have severely affected» areas of the states of Mérida, Trujillo, Barinas and Táchira.
The ruler said, in a message on Telegram, that both the FANB and regional and local governments are working to address contingency.
