Group attack: student dies after beating for not being sprinkled foam at carnival

A young 19 -year -old student lost her life after being brutally assaulted by a group of at least 10 people on the Paseo Los Próceres, in Caracas, during Carnival celebrations. The victim, identified as Luis Fernando, was attacked after refusing to participate in the holiday games.

The incident occurred on Carnival Tuesday, when Luis Fernando traveled through the place and was sprayed with foam by a group of young people. Before his refusal to participate in the game, an argument that quickly climbed to physical violence was triggered. The group of aggressors surrounded the young man and hit him until he was unconscious.

Videos of the attack, disseminated in social networks, have generated outrage and have been used by the victim’s family to demand justice and the identification of all those responsible. In addition, a photograph in social networks circulates in which some of those involved appear, although their veracity has not yet been confirmed by the authorities.

Luis Fernando was transferred to the Pérez Carreño hospital by civil protection officials and the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), but died early Wednesday due to the seriousness of his wounds. According to a preliminary report, the young man suffered a stroke and damage to other internal organs as a result of the blows received, proposed with paint cans used in the carnival games.

The young man lived in the Maya. So far, the authorities have not issued an official statement on the case.
